Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you're an early-riser who embraces a worship experience full of modern touches, or you prefer a more traditional service, Lockhart First United Methodist Church has options for you. We welcome the whole family. We offer Sunday School for all ages, Children's Worship during both services, and we provide nursery care on Sunday mornings, Wednesday nights during our Bible study classes, and on request for other church services.

Contemporary Service:

What is the service like?

The Live Praise Band livens up our early worship service, held in the Family Life Center every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. We trade hymnals for high-tech for this service, making a joyful noise as we follow along together on a big screen.

What should I wear?

Whatever you'd like, comfortable, formal--whatever mood you're in. Jeans are fine!

What if I have children?

The nursery is available for children three and under. For the older children they are welcome to stay in the service or they also have the choice of attending Children's Church. Come on in to the service and then the Pastor will dismiss children to Children's Church where a teacher will escort them back to the classrooms for their own service! Towards the end of the regular church service the teacher will bring the children back to their families. Children's Church is optional.

What about parking?

Lots of parking available, there are even spots marked for visitors. The early service or contemporary service is held in the Family Life Center which looks like a gym and is found at the back of the parking lot.

Traditional Service:

The stories of the Bible, depicted in amazing color on our many stained glass windows, will surround you in the sanctuary as you worship during our conventional service, held every Sunday at 10:45 a.m. Our choir leads the congregation in singing God's praises. Children's church is also availabe during our traditional service. This is a time when children leave the sanctuary and go with a teacher to their own location so that you may relax and focus on the service. Children are brought back into the sanctuary towards the end of the service where they rejoin their families. Children's Church is optional.
